1949 Devonshire Crt

1949 Devonshire Crt, Intaglio on Fine Tissue, UV Catalyst Resin and Brick, 2018.

Following the passing of updated provisions for filing demolition of properties in Windsor’s Municipal Heritage Register (M163-21 05), St. George’s Church (1955) and Church Hall (1921) were demolished despite being on heritage inventory for several years. During the demolition, I rescued a single red brick from the construction site. I proceeded to have the red brick 3D scanned and printed using UV catalyst resin, as well as etched and printed using photo-intaglio techniques. I pulled a total of sixty red bricks on fine tissue and made the decision to leave these bricks in an ephemeral and fragile state. The original brick, as well as UV catalyst resin printed scans are subtly built into the gallery environment.
