Red Brick

Red Brick, Intaglio on BFK Reeves, 9″ x 12″, 2017

Red Brick was the first work produced in response to the demolition of 1949 Devonshire Crt. Following the passing of updated provisions for filing demolition of properties in Windsor’s Municipal Heritage Register (M163-21 05), St. George’s Church (1955) and Church Hall (1921) were demolished despite being on heritage inventory for several years. During the demolition, I rescued a single red brick from the construction site. Through a 1:1 study of my hand holding the brick, I contemplate my relationship to the site and the brick as an object.
